Maternushaus Honorary Lecture

Since 2017, the Maternushaus Honorary Lecture is a new highlight of the University Eye Hospital of Cologne’s annual continuing education event. According to the donor’s statutes, the Maternushaus Honorary Lecture is intended to honor ophthalmologists--surgeons and/or researchers--who have made a major contribution to a sub-discipline of ophthalmology.

Thus far, the following individuals have been the laureates of the Maternushaus Honorary Lecture, listed with their topic:

Prof. Dr. Ursula Schlötzer-Schrehardt, Universitätsaugenklinik Erlangen: Research on Pseudoexfoliation Glaucoma

Prof. Dr Bernd Bertram, Aachen: Merits for his many years of work in the field of professional policy

Prof. Dr. Heinrich Heimann, Liverpool: Improvements in local and systemic therapy of uveal melanoma

Prof. Dr. Anselm Kampik, Munich: Outstanding achievements in macular pathology and surgery

Prof. Dr. Dr. Franz Grehn, Würzburg: For his longterm achievements in improving care of glaucoma patients; especially in pediatric glaucoma surgery

Prof. Dr. Rudolf Guthoff, Rostock: Outstanding achievement in implementing in vivo confocal microscopy of the cornea in nerve fiber diagnosis, among other areas

Prof. Dr. Thomas Neuhann, Munich: Outstanding achievement in cataract surgery among other areas, especially curvilinear continuous capsulorhexis
